Supervision fee from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket)

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency directly invoices companies for supervision fees related to electronics and batteries.

New Requirements from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency

Starting from January 1, 2024, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has introduced requirements that producer responsibility fees for electronics should be differentiated based on the chemical content in the products, and a higher price must be charged for certain products.

This means that the Price List is Differentiated as Follows:

  • Electronic products where any component contains 0.1% by weight or more of substances from the candidate list in the “REACH Regulation” will receive the regular price.
  • For products for which you already pay the full chemical tax, a 10% discount applies, provided that the product does not contain any other substances from the candidate list.
  • If you already pay the full chemical tax for the product and it also contains another substance from the candidate list that is not covered by the chemical tax, the product will continue to receive the regular price.
  • Products that only contain components with less than 0.1% by weight of substances on the candidate list will also qualify for a 10% discount.

What does the Candidate List and the REACH Regulation mean?

The REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) is European legislation that regulates the registration, evaluation, approval, and restriction of chemicals to ensure their safety for humans and the environment.

The candidate list is a compilation of substances considered particularly hazardous to human health and the environment under the REACH Regulation and may be subject to restrictions or authorization requirements.
